We begin 2021 with the uncertainty of what will come, but with the experience of past times. Over the years, the tourism sector of the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees has demonstrated its capacity for resilience and transformation. In difficult times, future challenges. That is why we are starting this season with clear objectives.

Inclusion, a transversal factor

Inclusive and senior tourism is a transversal factor of the tourist offer that is becoming more and more important. It is a brand and destination strategy that generates differential value and quality. For this reason, in 2021, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board is making a definitive commitment to it. Various awareness-raising and training actions are planned, as well as actions to communicate good practices.

The aim is to continue working so that the experience offered to visitors is increasingly inclusive and so that everyone, regardless of their physical, sensory or cognitive condition, can enjoy the excitement, the landscape, the adventure, the gastronomy, the culture and all the attractions that our territory offers.

In addition to inclusion, the 2021 Action and Objectives Plan of the Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board, agreed with the region’s tourism sector, emphasises the need to work especially on transversal tourism sustainability and to direct efforts towards more socially and environmentally responsible tourism, with products and services that add aspects of safety, health and uniqueness throughout the value chain.

2020 good practices

From We Are All, in 2020 we have talked about activities related to nature, such as equine-assisted therapy or accessible hiking; we have learned about the accessibility measures of the museums of the Girona regions, increasingly aware of the importance of the inclusive offer; we have participated in the first inclusive guided tours of the city of Girona; and we have presented you the accessible beaches of the Costa Brava or the initiatives of the Baix Empordà Tourist Accessibility Plan. A set of experiences and good practices in the sector that prove that the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees is a territory open to inclusive and senior tourism.
