“Els sentits de la descoberta” (The senses of discovery), the new digital book on inclusive tourism

At We Are All we bid a happy farewell to the year. We have just expanded the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board’s library of digital tourism books with a guidebook of inclusive experiences on the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees.

Els sentits de la descoberta. La Costa Brava i el Pirineu de Girona per a tothom (The senses of discovery. The Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees for all) was created with the aim of informing about the inclusive offer of our territory, motivating the public to visit us and raising awareness in the sector, so that the offer increases and becomes more and more inclusive.

A very varied inclusive offer

The new digital book covers the counties of Girona. Several hosts of the territory with different disabilities guide us through the experience through eight chapters. In this guidebook you will find active tourism by land, water and air. Kayaking, sailing, scuba diving, tandems along the greenways, blind volcanoes, forest baths, handbikes along mountain paths, hiking and inclusive skiing; balloon flights, tandem flights and wind tunnel flights…

In the digital book you will also find our most accessible heritage, represented by food and wine experiences, visits to medieval villages and archaeological sites, and museums and other facilities with tactile or auditory resources, sign language, QR codes… A wide range of activities to do throughout the year.

Accessible promotional material

Although the counties of Girona have a wide variety of accessible tourism offerings, they still lack promotional elements that are accessible to all. The new digital book uses clear, easy-to-understand language and a simple, contrasted design. Each photograph is accompanied by textual support, and alternative text has been incorporated into the images. The guide includes audiovisual materials that will allow you to meet the protagonists of the book: hosts and tourist organisations and professionals in the sector. These materials include subtitles in Catalan and CSL interpreting.

Two years ago, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board published the first map of accessible tourism, which presents several inclusive tourist attractions in our territory and contains information in Braille and a QR code through which the content can be accessed in an audio version and in five languages.

Els sentits de la descoberta es resultado is the result of teamwork between Inclusive and Senior Tourism of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and the photographer Diego Espada. In addition, associations and foundations for people with disabilities, as well as service providers, tourist offices and other organisations in the tourism sector have also collaborated in the project. It is a four-handed work that gives a voice to the protagonists.
