Next we propose other activities and routes to discover the area.
Nature without barriers
With forty volcanic cones, the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area of La Garrotxa stands out due to its lush vegetation and has an exceptional landscaping value. Declared by the Parliament of Catalonia as a Natural Place of National Interest, the park has adapted routes and accessible to everyone.
One of the most original activities we suggest you do is a guided tour of one of the volcanoes in the area, especially the Croscat volcano, which is really beautiful and accessible to everyone. The company Natura & màgia offers inclusive fun guided tours that enhance the visit with the art of magic. Outings are adapted to the needs of each client and to any disability.
In case of hearing impairment, the guide is accompanied by a sign language professional. In addition, the explanations are supported by images and graphic descriptions that are drawn on a whiteboard that the guide carries during the visit.

See the various options for guided and accessible tours that are made on this other link. Among the trips you will find the Natural Reserve of Jordà, the Natural Reserve of Montsacopa Volcano of Olot, Colltort Castle, the Natural Park viewpoint and the Natural Reserve of Croscat Volcano.
We remind you that the Natural Park of the Garrotxa Volcanic Area grants special permits to access places that are usually restricted. In addition, the Park makes a special chair (Joëlette) available to anyone who needs it so that those with reduced mobility can enjoy hiking activities or access areas with more inaccessible and irregular terrain. Values and tourism visiting the La Fageda farm
La Fageda d’en Jordà is one of the most famous places in the Natural Park of the Garrotxa Volcanic Area, especially in the autumn, which is when the leaves paint the land of brown and ochre colours creating a fantastic mosaic. The smell of damp earth, the crunching leaves when walking or the singing of the native birds are also part of this unique landscape, inspiring to artists and poets and which everyone can appreciate.
The Park authorizes access to La Fageda to vehicles that prove the degree of disability of the user. Some companies and facilities also offer guided tours in the area, such as Mas Coromina. At the Campsite Lava, routes on carriage pulled by workhorses are organized, accessible to everyone thanks to support staff. You have to make a reservation in advance and can do so by calling (+34) 972 680 358.
During your visit we recommend that you stop at La Fageda Cooperative, located in Mas Casals, in the heart of La Fageda d’en Jordà. You will discover a social project that was born with the aim of giving dignity to the patients of psychiatric hospitals through work placements. At La Fageda they currently produce dairy products and jams, which are distributed throughout the country.
As highly recommended tourist experiences organized by the cooperative, you can opt for a tour of its facilities, with explanations by a guide about cows in production, the prenatal room, the calves and the milking room. During this visit, the preparation process of its products is also explained.
The second visit option is called Petits Grangers (Little Farmers) and is ideal for children aged 3 to 8. It involves making children give a hand to the farmers of La Fageda. A playful and educational activity that allows, among others, to touch the cows, milk them and feed them.
It is essential to book either of the two visits at this link.
More guided tours and accessible routes
Highly recommended for its exceptional views of Olot and its surroundings is the ascent to the Montsacopa volcano, fully integrated into the city centre and accessible by car on a paved road. The church of Sant Francesc and the two watchtowers on the crater make Montsacopa a place of incomparable scenic beauty and a magnificent viewpoint of Olot city.
Inside the fortified centre of the church of Sant Francesc, above the crater, you will find a visitor service space, El Fortí (small fort). It has a bar and restaurant with a menu of dishes based on local products.
The people with reduced mobility who need to access the Montsacopa volcano by a vehicle must request the corresponding authorization at the Tourist Office of Olot by email at firstname.lastname@example.org a few days in advance.
The company Corriol offers a wide variety of guided routes scheduled on weekends. The vast majority are accessible and adapted to people with physical or mental disabilities. You will have wheelchairs or Joëlette chairs whenever you need them. We recommend, for example, the visit to the Croscat volcano. For more information about Corriol’s activities, call (+34) 972 26 01 01 or contact them at email@example.com.
La Garrotxa has many other tourist activities accessible to everyone from different towns: Olot, Les Planes d’Hostoles, Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Sant Joan de Llierca and La Vall d’en Bas. All of them with a natural or cultural theme and with the option to rent a single-wheel Joëlette chair if necessary. Check the guide companies of La Garrotxa at the following link.
Where to park
Between Olot and Santa Pau there are two large car parks for visitors: the Can Serra area, located just next to La Fageda d’en Jordà, and the Santa Margarida area, located just between the volcanoes Santa Margarida and Croscat. Both car parks are the starting points of several signposted routes that enable you to visit the central area of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area La Garrotxa. These two car parks are payable.
