About us

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board of the Diputació de Girona is the tourism promotion organization in the Girona province, whose main mission is to promote the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona tourist brands, promote competitiveness and quality in the provision of tourist services.

For years the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board has been working with public bodies and Girona companies for the area of Girona to become a leading tourist destination in the Mediterranean.

In 2017, the entity developed an Accessibility Diagnostics study among the 700 companies and tourism entities associated to its new product marketing clubs, acquired three Joëlette chairs, which it ceded to the three certified natural parks in Girona accredited with the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, and, in early 2019, has published the first tactile and auditory map of accessible tourism of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees.

The Costa Brava Girona Tourism Board has been organizing seminars and awareness sessions in the tourism sector on the importance of working the segment of inclusive tourism, it cooperates closely with leading local and nationwide entities in this field such as Elsa Integració, Mifas, Multicapacitats and ONCE, and is adapting digital materials following the international guidelines for web accessibility (WCAG).

Additionally, projects are being promoted with which to present real experiences that sensitize and stimulate visitors to choose Girona as a holiday destination.

The Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations are adapting their offer to accommodate visitors and customers in this market segment: accessible accommodation places are expanded; architectural barriers are suppressed in most of the tourist resources in the territory; numerous activity businesses proliferate that offer products adapted for people with functional diversity (such as sailing, hot-air balloons, kayaking, horse riding, scuba diving, cycling, etc.)

Thus, Catalonia’s tourist model is committed to offering products, services, activities and experiences to visitors to Catalan destinations that are accessible to all segments and audiences in order to universalize the right to enjoy leisure and holidays
